Ray Jones was tradgically taken from us today, he was involved in a road accident in the early hours of this morning 25.08.2007. He was going to be 19 on tuesday.
Ray had the world at his feet, he was a professional footballer playing for Queens Park Rangers and involved in the England U-19 set-up.

As a fan of QPR myself i can confirm that this young kid had so much promise, he had one hell of a future ahead of him.

Today we lost a star for the future but tonight he will be shining the brightest not just for tonight but forever.

My thought and prayers go out to Ray's family and friends.

R.I.P Ray........you will be greatly missed.

Ray was a beautiful boy. He was a fantastic person, with a big, big heart.

"He was only 18 years of age and had his best footballing years in front of him. He was already a hero amongst QPR supporters and he had the potential to go on and become a legend.

"I remember he was the star of the show in my first few weeks here.

"He scored the first goal of my reign against Hull City and then notched a typical Ray Jones goal against Southampton a week later.

"He really did have the footballing world at his feet and the fact he can't go on and fulfil the undoubted potential he had is a tragedy in itself.

"It's hit everyone at the Football Club really hard. The players are absolutely devastated.

"Ray was one of the most popular figures in the dressing room. No-one ever had a bad word to say about him and that for me says everything you need to know about Ray Jones, the person and the footballer.

"It's a tragic loss and our sympathies and condolences go out to his family and friends at this awful time."

hey ray u didnt know me and i didnt kow u but i wanted to leave you a comment as i was looking through an old palace programme and i saw ur name on it and it read something like a young talent going far sadly for u that wasnt far enough and you died before you had the chance to really succeed much love to u, idris and the other person killed with you my love goes out to your family my heart goes out to them

I was thinking about you, Idris and Jess tonight. I was remembering how whenever Idris phoned Nikki you always seemed to be with him, Idris would give you the phone and she would ask 'How are you and your boyfriend?', it always made you laugh. You were so proud when you got your new car, I can still hear Idris talking about it. The three of you left a big void in so many lifes, what a testiment to three special young men .. rest peacefully xx

when my old man told me ray had died i was in shock i cudnt believe it i didnt believe him!! ray jones the qpr striker with the word at his feet was gone!! boi u was great and my foughts are wit ur family!! u are a legend now m8 ur up there wit george best bobby moore havin a kick about!! never forgotten m8!! xx

Elllo ray Haven't been on here since being on holiday and finding out what had happend its wierd because when my mum told me what had happend i couldnt picture in my head who you was because i hadnt seen you for a couple of years. And then when i saw you pictures i rembered all the times we all used to be at aunty sues house. it hurts when i think of what you had going for you in your life and now thats all been taken away from you. I only saw you play once or twice at Loftus Road and when i did i said to my boyfriend ' he is my fav player' i dont no why but there was something that made me happy when i saw u play . the day i heard that you was gone was when i was in tescos and my boyfriends phone rang and his brother told him. he was not sure whether to tell me coz he knew how i would react. when he said kate ray jones has died i stood still and cried my eyes out. i could belive it i was sooo upset it shocked me more because i had heard on the radio that there was an accident involving a bus but never ever thought it was someone who was soo talented and had the rest of his life ahead of him. everytime i go and watch the lads at QPR i think of you and wonder what the score would have been if you were playing scoring all the goals. we went to southampton the other day to watch us play and everyone sang a song for you it sent shivers down my spine. i hope you and ur friends are looking out for eachother and that u are still playing football. thinking of u Katie xxxx
